Daniele Tamagni
Italy
Bio
Daniele was born in Milan and graduated in Art History at Parma University. It was during a two-year period spent in London that he started a career as a photographer. A jack of all trades, he went from fashion photography to features on social services. He produced his first in-depth feature on a trip to the Congo. He spent weeks working on the Brazzaville « sapeurs », a group of Congolese dandies who are renowned for their worship of elegance which they take to extremes. He published a magnificent book on the subject, Gentlemen of Bacongo, with a preface by the English designer Paul Smith, who used it as inspiration for his 2010 spring-summer collection. Daniele Tamagni received a World Press Award for his feature on Bolivian female wrestlers, Flying Cholitas, of which the most powerful images can be found in our gallery.
