Un mot sur l'oeuvre
"Located at the extreme southwest of the Okinawa archipelago in Japan, Yonaguni Island is home to an underwater curiosity called the monument.Nobody has yet solved the riddle: natural or artificial, the angles from this city are straight, the regular stairs, the smooth floors, the walls form disturbing corridors.Sailing between past and future, this dive on the structure of Yonaguni is an experience out of time. " Guillaume Nery.
The story is born with a meeting.
Franck Seguin has been leading a personal work on apnea for several years on the sidelines of his brilliant career at L'Equipe.
He works with Guillaume Néry, multiple champion of the world of apnea, since always.
A photograph taken during the training of Guillaume had already earned the world Press, sports category, Franck Seguin.
Since Guillaume Néry retired from high competition, they often exchange.
It was on the idea of Franck, wishing to speak of apnea as a way of life, that was born this project, he wanted to meet the people of the water.
The trip took a year. He gave One breath around the world, a fabulous trip to the great apnea sites of the planet to meet men, and animals that populate them. Guillaume made a film made with his partner Julie Gautier. Franck brought back some photographs. A remarkable job.
The catalog which follows, is the substantive. 35 images among a few thousand, those who, because of their aesthetic quality, their poetry, their sometimes dreamlike, we seemed to be able to access the rank of works.
Only 9 copies of each will be released.
6 prints on sale + 3 that the artist reserves. Prices increase with each issue.
The works are proposed framing included: Diasec original framed realized under the control of the author.
Le témoignage de Franck Seguin
Japanese Atlantis: Yonaguni (Okinawa-Japan)
"The underwater structure of Yonaguni, literally " underwater relief / remnant of Yonaguni-jima " is an underwater sandstone formation located in the clear waters of Arakawa Point, at the southern end of the island. Yonaguni in the Japanese Ryukyu archipelago near Okinawa, discovered in 1985, which would be a 5000-year-old immersed temple, is an enormous stone structure that seems to be megalithic, with huge terraces interrupted by large angular. The structure is 75 meters long and 25 meters high and still has all its mysteries, it remains at least a certainty: it is one of the most beautiful diving sites in the world, whose wonders were revealed in the West by the late Jacques Mayol ... We followed his palm tracks in trying to unravel the mystery of Atlantis. "
